Making a Frog quilt

Co-worker Sara T. is leaving our office soon to be a stay-at-home mom to her two small children. I studied Sara’s cube and found several stuffed animal frogs. So, the theme of her quilt is frogs.

I got the idea to make one frog block, putting it in the lower left area of the quilt, surrounded by lots of scrappy squares. I found a cute paper-pieced frog online, which I had planned to use. But then I found a panel of really cute, cartoonish frogs. I chose one square from the panel, which will replace the paper-pieced frog.

I don’t have much green in my stash, so I picked lots of new green fat quarters. The greens will be used for big nine-patch blocks (12” finished). I remembered a lily pad fat quarter that I bought years ago and pulled it from my stash. I’ll scatter three squares of it among the greens.
