Smiley Faces

Smiley Faces

Close-up
A couple of years ago I noticed that Tammy had several smiley face decorations at her desk. This fabric has been in my stash for a few years. I knew it was just right for Tammy. Co-worker (and Tammy's good friend) Shelly A. helped by choosing a couple of colors, blue and yellow.

Back of the quilt
I usually do plain, solid fabric. But I decided to use leftovers (more smileys) from the front, plus the solid yellow from stash.

Electric Quilt Sketch
Needing inspiration, I did an internet search for images of smiley face quilts. I found this quilt, an easy pattern and seems to feature the same fabric.

Fabrics

Large center panel, cut in one piece

First round laid out on the design wall

Pieces sewn together

Trying out the yellow print. Seems to overwhelm the rest of the quilt.

Smaller width, same as the blue. Feels better.

Quilt top finished

Once again, the finished quilt.

Tammy was surprised to get her quilt. When I told her I had noticed the smiley faces at her desk, she quickly showed me a smiley face pillow about the size of a dinner plate. I laughed. Tammy loves her new quilt.
