Think Christmas!

Welcome to my blog! I'm so glad you stopped by. I'm delighted to participate in the Think Christmas Blog Hop. Be sure to check the end of the post for giveaways.

I created two blocks, both inspired by a photo found on the Internet:

He's a cutie!

I cartoonized the photo, played with it at Picasa, then printed on fabric.

I added a couple of borders, then trimmed to 12.5" square. I'll probably make a little wallhanging and display at Christmas. By the way, I named the little dog Corky the Corgi. I think he's just darling.

The second block also is inspired by the photo.
This sketch is based on an Amy Bradley Dazzling Dog - TC.
I chose him because of the glasses. He comes with a beanie, but I altered the hat to look like the one in the photo.

Using a Frixion pen, I traced the outlines of the sketch onto the background.

Pattern cut apart. Hash marks indicate edges that will go under other fabrics.

Face pattern piece traced, leaving extra room at the top where the hash marks are. All fabrics are backed with Wonder Under fusible web for fusible applique.

Used tailor's chalk to "trace" the pattern onto black fabric.

Pieces fused to background

Quilt sandwich
Used invisible thread for quilting and to seal the edges after trimming. Attached button eyes and snowflakes.

TC's Christmas
6.5" square

Hope you enjoyed the blocks. By the way, there is a separate post that goes into much more detail about the blocks here.

Now for the giveaways! You could win one of two Christmas fat quarters:

Snowbabies

Ornaments

For a chance to win one of the fat quarters, simply leave a comment by the last day of the Blog Hop (end of Sunday, Aug. 5). Be sure to mention whether you prefer Snowbabies or Ornaments. For an extra chance to win one of the fabrics, leave another comment mentioning that you are a new or existing follower. Two winners will be drawn on Monday, August 6.

Be sure to stop by and see the other Blog Hop participants today:

    1. Nellie, I don't have or can afford Photoshop. I went to BeFunky.com, a free site, to cartoonize the dog. Then I used Picasa, which I downloaded for free from the Internet. Hope this helps.
