This week I started working on a travel quilt, adapting Lyn Brown's Modern City Blocks to accommodate a city-themed fabric panel.
Electric Quilt sketch
Large square will go in the center of the quilt.
Three green fabrics stacked on each other
Cut three layers at once.
Small piece at top right is waste.
Using a Stack the Deck technique, shuffled the fabrics.
Top left, no change. Top right, took the first fabric and moved it to the bottom so second fabric is on top. Bottom, moved first and second fabrics to the bottom so the third fabric is on top.
Here are the first sets of fabrics that will become blocks. This technique is an easy way to get a scrappy look in blocks.
Mottled gray from Hobby Lobby will become sashing to represent the city streets.
I'd like to get all of the blocks made by the end of the weekend.

I look forward to seeing this one coming together. That's a great panel to start, and green is my favorite color. =)
