Fabrics for Light the Night Walk quilt
All from stash

About eight years ago, my son Robbie and daughter-in-law Laurie gave me the red sports fabric seen above as a way of telling me that they were going to have their first baby. The baby was a girl, and so was the second baby. I think of the fabric as rather boyish, so I never used it to make a quilt for my granddaughters.

After waiting many years for the appropriate project, I've decided to use the fabric to make a quilt as a fundraiser to benefit the Light the Night Walk (leukemia and lymphoma). Michael A., relatively new to my office, lost his son to leukemia in 1997. He and his wife participate in the Light the Night Walk each year. I'm making this quilt to honor Michael's son, using a fabric that means a lot to me. I'll keep a small piece for myself.

I started creating the checkerboards last night. I'll get the quilt finished this weekend and deliver on Monday.
