Tonight I worked on wonky blocks, adding fabric and then trimming to make them all the same size. Since I don't have a lot of the white print, I decided to sew two wider strips to each block, rather than four thin strips.
Sewed a strip to the bottom
Trimmed even with the right side of the block
Sewed a strip to the right
Trimmed to 8.5" square
Top three blocks are done
I'll do the same to the remaining six blocks, then work on the border.

Love this block. It is fun, modern and a great way to highlight a treasured fabric. Thanks for sharing
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments, wombatquilts. I think it will be a cute quilt.
DeleteGreat blocks! How big will your quilt be?
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jennie. It will be a wallhanging, 28" wide at the most. The wall at the bottom of my stairs, where I plan to display it, is 29" wide, so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it fits.
DeleteWell done. I struggle with intentionally wonky blocks.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Just Sew Sue. I have to work at them, sort of the way I play jazz on the piano. I can do it, but it's not second nature.
