I went on a personal quilting retreat by the ocean last week. While I was away I worked blocks for Cathy’s Southwest, my current quilt. Last night I finished the red/gold Diamond in a Square blocks and tonight I finished the purple/turquoise ones, a total of 32 blocks.
Also tonight I began working on Economy Patch blocks, a fancier version of Diamond in a Square. I should have those 16 blocks finished this weekend.

Very pretty blocks!
ReplyDeleteI need a personal retreat! What a great idea!
ReplyDeleteI really like the diamond in a square block!
ReplyDeleteI went poking around your blog to see if I could find out more info on this quilt and I found the picture of the layout, very cool! That's going to be one bold quilt when it's finished!
ReplyDeletemmmm, a personal quilting retreat by the ocean, sounds heavenly!
ReplyDeleteThese are great blocks, and I can see the nautical influence!
ReplyDeleteVery nice, I love how bold and graphic the blocks look so far!
ReplyDeleteI found the layout too. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteGood luck with getting all those blocks done!
ReplyDeleteThose blocks are so graphic, I love them. A personal quilting retreat by the ocean sounds divine!

ReplyDeletepretty! great job!
ReplyDelete32 blocks done and another 16 by the end of the weekend? You're my hero!
ReplyDeleteThose blocks look great in the solids! (And I'm a sucker for red-and-gold colours.) Nice work. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, that will keep you busy! What is the finished block size on them? They look small. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for the many compliments. A Girl: the blocks, actually block units, are supposed to be 4" finished, but with my imperfect 1/4" seam they are probably going to be more like 3.75" finished. The completed quilt is supposed to be 61.5" square, but will probably be a few inches smaller than that.
ReplyDeleteI've pretty much been taking a personal quilting retreat at home this past week or so. I've just kept sewing and sewing no matter what else was going on around me.
ReplyDeleteI bet quilting by the ocean is totally relaxing!! I can hear the waves now :)
